Originally from Dallas, Texas, Jared moved to Iowa to attend Iowa State University, where he earned a degree in Business Administration and Accounting. During his time at Iowa State, he played quarterback for the Cyclones and contributed to several notable program victories. Jared later earned his MBA from Southwestern College while also serving as a college football coach.

Before joining Northwest, Jared held a leadership role at Stack Sports, where he led a team focused on developing strategic partnerships within the sports and recruiting industries.

Jared, along with his wife Marni and their two children, Marshall and Charlie, reside in Waukee, Iowa. The Barnett family is actively involved in their community, and Jared personally participates in the Iowa High School Coaches Association and the Iowa State Letterwinner Club.
