While we provide the protection and confidentiality of your account information on our systems, we need your help to ensure your information is protected on your systems. We want to provide several tools and resources to protect your accounts and personal information from fraud.
Your identity is one of the most valuable things you own. It’s important to keep your identity from being stolen by someone who can potentially harm your good name and financial well-being. Identity theft occurs when someone uses your name, address, Social Security Number, credit card or financial account numbers, passwords, and other personal information without your knowledge to commit fraud or other crimes. While the words may sound like a foreign language -- Phishing, Pharming, Vishing, Spyware, Dumpster Diving — they are actually techniques used by thieves to put your identity and finances at risk. And their attacks grow more frequent and sophisticated every year. Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in the United States. According to US Department of Justice statistics, it’s now passing drug trafficking as the number one crime in America.
We also encourage you to create an Identity Theft Report and review your Credit Report. For more information on steps you can take for Identity Theft, click here.

Northwest Bank will send out text messages to verify debit card activity. If you receive a text, check that the text message is clear: Does the text define which card was used in the transaction? Is the included card information, correct? If you have any questions about the text or the transaction do not call the number the text came from.
You may receive texts that claim to be from our Northwest Bank Fraud Team asking to verify debit card activity and requesting debit card numbers and other personal information. We do not advise answering these questions as Northwest Bank will never ask customers for their personal information.
